Architecture Culture and History 2

Architecture Culture & History 2 is a continuation of the investigation of architecture history developments that began in Architecture Culture & History 1. Provided detailed accounts of the principal developments in the Western world from the revolutionary period to the present day.


Project 1: Timeline and Diagram Analysis


In this project, we were required to undertake a research analysis process on Modern Malaysian architecture practices throughout history and present it through literature review and documentation. Our group researched on three buildings; MBPJ Civic Centre, Masjid Tun Abdul Aziz and National Registration Department Petaling Jaya.





REFLECTION

Through this project, I got to know of the Malaysian architecture throughout the decade and the changes in the development of modern style architecture


Project 2: Report


In a group of 5, we were to conduct a research and architectural analysis on a selected building around Klang Valley. Our group chose Petaling Jaya Civic Centre (Dewan Sivik) as our topic. We were to refine our reseach and the informations we gained into introduction, site context analysis, architectural style analysis, architectural layout analysis, building construction, structure and materials analysis, architectural elements or components analysis and conclusion. Then we were to publish our research as a web book as an academic material. I was assigned the part on Building Construction, Structure and Material analysis.

REFLECTION

This project taught me a lot on the construction aspects of a building back in the 80s. Moreover, I got to study the influences of western style architecture and how it is presented here in Malaysia.
